News Synopsis

India's first electric highway, connecting Delhi and Jaipur, is expected to be built shortly. A foreign business is already in discussions with Gadkari's government to build a motorway linking the two cities. In addition to the Delhi-Jaipur section, discussions are also underway with a Swedish business for an electric highway section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

The new electric highway technology developed in Sweden allows trucks to function as electric vehicles on electrified roads. To combat pollution and provide a more affordable form of transportation, Gadkari explained that the current government's focus is on promoting biofuels and electric vehicles. When it comes to propulsion systems in cars, electricity is the most preferred choice for powering motors due to the shifts from fossil fuels. An electric car utilizes one or more electric motors for propulsion and can be fueled by electricity, solar battery and can also use fuel cells generated through gasoline.

Electric vehicles are not limited to roads anymore. It can hypothetically power trains, planes, and even undersea vessels. As one of the 100 finest current climate change solutions, it's predicted to have a significant influence on global warming and the environment. According to Mr. Gadkari, a total of 22 green expressways were in the work, seven of which had already begun construction.
